Beginning in 1851 as the pharmacy on the corner of 13th Street and Third Avenue, it wasn’t until apprentice, Irving Morse took on the business that Kiehl’s expanded its offering. He won over customers with his motto, “Try before you buy,” setting the tone for the personalised service and sampling that the brand is celebrated for.
